St Patrick's Day Decorating With Lights

St. Patrick's Day is notable on March 17th throughout Ireland, the United States, and many other countries. The pub is a focal point for Irish communities. The word pub was shortened from the term communal house and refers to a central convention place for those in a community. The pub is the place where folks come to share a pint, some delicious food, or just to sit and swap stories about who caught the biggest critter that day.

Just because you don't live in Ireland or near one of the many Irish pubs that have popped up colse to the United States doesn't mean you can't enjoy all associated with St. Patrick's Day. Bring the green to your own home or banquet hall and host a St. Pat's Day party of your very own.

Did you know that in Dublin Ireland the doors of the buildings in the city are painted in bold colors and shades of reds, blues, purples, and greens? This tradition has historical significance. while the time that Ireland was a part of the United Kingdom, Queen Victoria mourned the death of her husband by sending out a decide to all of Ireland. The decide stated that to honor her husband, all the doors in the city were to be painted black. However, the Irish population didn't like that, so they painted the doors every other color! To this day, the doors are still appealing and bold shades of every color other than black.

Decorating with lights for your party is a great way to bring the colors of this fun holiday to your space. Green is the color most associated with St. Patrick's Day, but why not bring the many shades of the doors in Dublin into your light decorating project as well?

- String green mini lights, purple mini lights, blue mini lights, and red mini lights intertwined colse to the buffet table and swagged along the drink table or bar.

- Mirrors will reflect a festive and fun climate when bordered with green mini lights.

- synthetic plants throughout the party space should be lit up with strings of mini lights in green and other bold colors such as purple or blue.

- form doorways and windows with strings of mini lights.

- create great centerpieces for the tables with groups of mini lights surrounding large Irish-style beer steins filled with nuts and snack foods, just like a pub.

- Adorn a holiday tree with green and purple mini lights and hang shamrocks on the tree with former Irish sayings or stories.

- Hang Christmas mini lights from the ceiling to create overhead sparkle
